Happy Tails

Duke (a.k.a Elliot)

Before After

We found Xena at the local shelter, shivering with fear, huddled against the cinder blocks in the arms of her larger sister, Gabrielle. Both were bald with swollen heads, puffy feet and squinty eyes, their skin ruined by mange and infections. After being treated for skin infections and parasites, they went to a foster home where they continued to huddle together in a warm bed, growling suspiciously at the humans that brought them food. They only left their bed for food and water. As they started to gain health, their personalities emerged and although Gabrielle was larger, she did not have enough strength to survive. Little Xena, now alone in the world, started trusting and loving and grew into the warrior Princess after whom she was named.

Rosemary is a female, red Min Pin/Italian Greyhound mix. She is 3-4 years old and weighs 8 lbs. She is a real sweetheart who loves to snuggle.

Cloe is a female Schipperke/Chihuahua mix. She might have some Manchester Terrier in her as well, but either way, she is an adorable little dog. Cloe is about 1-year old and she weighs about 9 lbs.

Diamond is a beautiful, female, black Great Dane who is 2-1/2 years old. She is a sweetheart and very well mannered.

Rascal (formerly Harvey) is doing extremely well. I get great pleasure from his quirks and antics, as I hope he does from mine. He seems to feel very secure in his new environment and definitely acts as though all that he sees is part of his domain. He now chooses to retreat to his indoor kennel at various times during the day, covering his head with a towel to facilitate his naps. He loves it when I need to go out, as he receives treats when he rushes into the kennel, and again when I return. He has ways of letting me know when he needs some extra loving. Everything else comes to a halt until that itch has been scratched. I feel fortunate that he is now part of my household. He's great fun as a companion and shows his appreciation in many tangible and intangible ways.
