This 3 month old Great Dane puppy was found in an empty field in Bastrop County. Who know how long he's been wandering on his own. Extremely emaciated and skinny as a skeleton, he was taken to the Bastrop shelter. It was obvious that this pup needed immediate care, so the good people at the shelter contacted us and we of course rushed to get the dog from the shelter. Our first stop was the vet clinic. After a thorough examination and some tests we knew that this pup was in pretty bad shape. Our first and most immediate concern was the fact that this boy has a severe case of Hookworms. Standing on the examination table he was leaking bloody diarrhea. The smell was so bad, the vet tech had to leave the room. In addition, it seems like he has some nerve damage, probably because he was hit by a vehicle. At this point we do not know the extent of the nerve damage. We have yet to figure out if it is permanent damage that will require amputation of his rear leg, which he is now not using at all. In addition, it was determined that this poor puppy is also deaf, but at this time it is the least of our worries.
As you can imagine, this boy is going to need a lot of veterinary care. Any donations to help Valor get the care he needs will be greatly appreciated.
All that comes to mind when seeing this dog is: "what the @#&*!..."
This dog was found in Alton TX. Someone actually saw
the car that drove to the end of the street open the door and dump
the dog out, then took off in a hurry. She could believe what she was
seeing. She was in such a shock and all happens so fast, she did not
get the license # of the car. That is too bad, because if I knew who
did this I would make sure they got what they deserve- pain and
suffering.
At this time, we can't tell if this dog is a Great Dane
or just a mix, but who cares. He needs help and we are here to take
care of him. His condition is severe. He has almost no hair. His skin
is dead and peeling off. He has bad infections and swelling. His eyes
are shut from bad eye infection. He can barely stand up. It will take
a long time, extensive vet care, treatments and lots of medications
to get him better. But just like with Noel, we will make sure he gets
all the care he needs to make him better.
